This is the second candle of our Explosives Detection Dogs K9 Collection. Inspired by Retired K9 Woody from a private security company in Chicago, Illinois. Woody is a 4-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer.

At a young age, Woody was trained as an explosive detection canine for a private security company that conducts services for major event venues including professional sports teams. During this time, he met his partner, Officer Gina Ibarra. Officer Ibarra, a canine handler for the Chicago Police Department, briefly worked with him but at 2.5 years old Woody was no longer needed by the company and he was retired. The company reached out to Officer Ibarra to help find him a home. At this point she felt with her being a K9 handler herself, having experience with her assigned Explosive Detection GSP K9, there was no better home for Woody than her own.

Woody is now living a wonderful life with his Working K9 sister K9 Rozi and family. Although he is retired, he still enjoys the occasional search with his sister and still works hard to make his family happy.
